About Prof. Cecilia Li Tsang Wai Ping
Prof. Cecilia W.P. Li-Tsang is the Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. Her role is to look after and internationalization, and quality assinerce at the department. She was appointed as the Programme Leader of BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy from 2002-2005. She was also the Scheme Coordinator for the self-financed MSc scheme in Rehabilitation Sciences from 2000 to 2001, and the award co-ordinator for the MSc programme in Rehabilitation of People with Developmental Disabilities, part of the MSc/PgD Scheme in Health Care from 1996 to 2001.
Prof. Li is specialized in the field of physical and paediatric rehabilitation. Her research interests are geared towards clinical evaluation and outcomes studies on burns, hand conditions, injuries at work and paediatric hand conditions. Prof. Li has successfully bid for research grants, such as CERG/GRF and a number of large Innovation Technological Fund, of over 10 million dollars (HK) in the past five years. She is actively engaged in collaborative research projects with Universities in China, Israel, Canada, U.S. & local organizations in HK. She was appointed as the adjunct professor of Peking University, Curtin University of Technology, and Nanjing Medical University. In 2003, she was awarded the K. C. Wong Education Foundation as a Visiting Scholar in Nanjing Medical University and Fudan University in China. Recently, she was appointed by Lang Gang Hospital in ShenZhen as the medical consultant.
Prof. Li was awarded the President Award for Outstanding Teaching Performance in 2001 and the Departmental Outstanding Teaching Award in 2000. She has been actively engaged in the innovative teaching and development of e-leaning subjects. She has developed four WebCT teaching packages and introduced clients visits to the classroom. Prof. Li was involved in learning-teaching research projects with funding more than 3.0 million. In 2003, she published four journal papers on teaching-learning and was the co-author of four book chapters on teaching learning methodologies. She pioneered the teleconference lectures with University of Haifa, Israel regularly for 5 years. Students from Israel and Hong Kong had direct dialogue with each other through the teleconference system. She has also introduced the clinical classroom to the OT students through a tele-conference platform with Prince of Wales Hospital.
Prof. Li also has extensive clinical experiences working with patients with hand injuries, arthritis, burns and developmental disabilities. She is actively involved in clinic services and consultancy projects in hand & burn rehabilitation and medico-legal consultation. In 2005, she was awarded the Outstanding Professional Services and Innovation Award for her consultancy work on work rehabilitation for workers with occupational deafness, in collaboration with Occupational Deafness Compensation Board.
Prof. Li was the President and Founder of Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Hand Therapists (APFSHT) in 2008.
